The pharmaceutical industry

The pharmaceutical industry is one of the most knowledge-intensive and productive sectors in the Danish business community. For many years, huge Danish icons such as Novo Nordic, Lundbeck, Novozymes, etc. have experienced continuous high growth.

Initiatives like Medicon Valley in the Danish/Swedish Oresunds region have created growth sectors that have strengthened the foundation for existing companies and attracted new players.

One thing that companies in this sector have in common is a high level of IT use for managing the many regulatory requirements set forth by EMEA for the European Union, and the FDA for the American market.

Safe and reliable IT systems are an integrated and necessary element for being able to operate in the pharmaceutical industry.

The same is true for other industries to ensure high efficiency, but for the pharmaceutical sector, there is at the same time a legal requirement to document all development and production processes.

The strong alternative when implementing SAP in the pharmaceutical sector

In connection with the launch of its 2007-2010 strategy, Segmenta selected the pharmaceutical sector as the third strategic sector to work with and invest in.

Our decision to choose the pharmaceutical sector is due primarily to a competence match between the SAP competences in demand in this sector, and the competences that Segmenta already offers and would like to further develop.

Furthermore, our analysis showed that today only a few large consultancies operate in providing SAP consulting services to the sector. We believe that there is room for a smaller, but serious alternative!
